I'd love to read any letters other people have written for the 17th so I can get a feel for it?
There are now two important submissions due in the next few days:
1. By 20 July
Submission to the Senate Committee looking at the Medicare for Midwives and related legislation. You will find information about this submission and a pro forma letter in this thread.
2. By 17 July
Submission to the NRAIP re the Health Legislation Amendment (Midwives and Nurse Practitioners) Bill 2009 and two related Bills. This is the legislation that the rally is all about. The legislation that we have all written to our local members about. The legislation that Nicola Roxon is famous for.
The sections of the Bills are:
101 Conditions of registration
(1) If a National Board decides to register a person in the health profession
for which the Board is established, the registration is subject to the
following conditions:
(a) for a registered health practitioner other than a health practitioner
who holds non-practising registration:
(i) that the registered health practitioner must complete the
continuing professional development program required by
the National Board, and
(ii) that the registered health practitioner must not practise the
health profession unless professional indemnity insurance
arrangements are in force in relation to the practitioner’s
practice of the profession,This is an Exposure draft of the Bill and submissions are invited by close of business, 17 July. Email submissions to nraip@dhs.vic.gov.auSubdivision 6 General

anything, in the course of the practitioner’s practice of the health
profession, that amounts to unprofessional conduct or professional
misconduct.
Maximum penalty:
(a) in the case of an individual—$30,000, or
(b) in the case of a body corporate—$60,000.
Please see the Midwives Victoria blog for confirmation about the two submissions. Please note that your submission will be placed on the website after the closing date for all submissions unless you indicate otherwise.

Thanks for the info. I only heard about the one due on the 17th earlier this evening, but wasn't really clear what it was specifically in response to.
'Necessity makes even the timid brave.'

The response due on the 20th to the Senate is straight-forward as the other thread has a template letter to work with. I'm about to send that one off.
But the one due on the 17th is not as clear to me. Anyone have any ideas on a format that might be more appropriate for this response to the NRAIP (which I just worked out stands for National Registration & Accreditation Implementation Project)? Is there someone's name we should be attention-ing on the top of the response email?
I guess in the subject heading you write: "Submission re: Exposure draft of Health Practitioner Regulation National Law 2009 (Bill B)". Thats as far as I've got...
"It’s not only okay to be different, sometimes it’s best." (Janice Campbell)
This is the one I asked about in the other thread about the 20th July senate letters.
I will be ready when anyone can tell us some more info about what to write.

I don't really know but would assume you could take what you've already written to your local member, edit it a bit so it looks more submission-y () and put it in. I guess it would be a little like the submissions for the MSR. That's what I'm going to do, anyway.
Spiralgirl said in another thread that she heard from the MC so perhaps they distributed a form letter much like the Senate Committee one...Spiralgirl?
Please could everyone post that they are going to do this? I'm worried no-one's reading this thread...
Yep, sorry, I should have included the web address I got the info off...http://nhwt.gov.au/natreg.asp
...but it doesn't say anything about who to address it to...so not sure about that myself.
I was actually hoping that someone more in the know about this would post and tell us all how they've done it.
Same here Semiprecious, hoping someone can give us some more info. This is so very important and too am woried about the lack of response in here.
The more letters that are sent the more the message is sent.

I'm going to send one as soon as there is more info...
All you need to say is that you are opposed to the introduction of this legislation because it limits your ability to hire the careprovider of your choice, and tell them how you'd like it to be changed. For instance, an exemption for IM's to require indemnity insurance (given they've already been practicing without it for 8 years), or for the government to subsidise insurance for IM's as they do for other groups of care providers.
